Harry Wilson said that having"no distractions" from the outside has been crucial in settling in quickly at new club Leeds United.

Wilson made his debut for Leeds following his summer transfer from Fulham on Saturday, with Daniel Farke’s side losing 3-2 to Wrexham atRaymond James Stadium.

Kieffer Moore gave Wrexham the lead inside the opening minute beforeJoel Piroe had the chance to restore parity from the penalty spot, but he missed his spot-kick.

Piroe made amends for the Premier League side by equalising with a backheel from a Sean Longstaff ball, only forBailey Cadamarteri to restore Wrexham’s advantage.

Longstaff levelled things up just before half-time, and even with Wilson introduced at the break,Sam Smith netted an 85th-minute winner for Phil Parkinson’s side.

These were Wilson’s first minutes since excelling for Fulham in the Premier League last season, which earned him his move to Elland Road.

He was directly involved in 17 top-flight goals in 2025-26 (10 goals, seven assists), the most for the Cottagers in the Premier League sinceDimitar Berbatov in 2012-13 (18).

But after turning out for his new team for the first time, Wilson said he was made to feel at home by his Wales international team-mates within Leeds’ ranks.

"There are no distractions. We are all together pretty much all day. It has been good for me getting to know everyone, all the new faces," Wilson told Leeds’ club website.

"The Welsh boys have helped me with that anyway, so I found it quite easy to get to know everyone.

"I have spent a lot of time on the training pitch getting to know the manager’s ideas, getting to know the lads on and off the pitch. I think it has been really good."

Leeds continue their pre-season tour of North America with clashes against Premier League opposition in Sunderland and Liverpool.

They return to Elland Road to take on RB Leipzig on August 8 before travelling to Dublin for a clash with rivals Manchester United.

Farke’s side conclude their preparations against Bundesliga side Augsburg ahead of their opening game of the Premier League season away to Nottingham Forest on August 22.

Wilson believed his team were worthy of winning their first pre-season outing against Wrexham, but said the performance was more important than the result.

"Disappointed to lose the game, but I feel for large parts of the game we were the better team," Wilson added.

"I don’t think I have seen a start like that for a while from a team. I thought it was a great, great goal from them.

"But I think after that, the boys that played the first half really took control of the game and got ourselves back in it and probably should have been winning at half-time.

“And then, yeah, we made a few changes at half-time, and I thought we started the second half really, really well.

"Controlled the half for long spells, and then we were disappointed to concede a counter-attack quite late on. I think overall, a good run out for our first game."
